May 18, 2020 | By jryanbrownlawThis weekend Atlanta issued 114 citations and impounded almost thirty vehicles according to an 11 Alive News report. Additionally, APD made 44 arrests and recovered 4 firearms.
Arrests were made for “laying drag.” The law governing “laying drag” is found at O.C.G.A. § 40-6-251.
No driver of any motor vehicle shall operate the vehicle upon the public streets, highways, public or private driveways, airport runways, or parking lots in such a manner as to create a danger to persons or property by intentionally and unnecessarily causing the vehicle to move in a zigzag or circular course or to gyrate or spin around, except to avoid a collision or injury or damage.
This crime is punishable as a misdemeanor if there there is a conviction.
A conviction for Laying Drag in Georgia carries with it three points onto your Georgia’s driver’s license.
