Atlanta Police Make Arrests for Street Racing

This weekend Atlanta issued 114 citations and impounded almost thirty vehicles according to an 11 Alive News report.  Additionally, APD made 44 arrests and recovered 4 firearms. 

Arrests were made for "laying drag." The law governing "laying drag" is found at O.C.G.A. § 40-6-251. 

Laying Drag - O.C.G.A. §  40-6-251

No driver of any motor vehicle shall operate the vehicle upon the public streets, highways, public or private driveways, airport runways, or parking lots in such a manner as to create a danger to persons or property by intentionally and unnecessarily causing the vehicle to move in a zigzag or circular course or to gyrate or spin around, except to avoid a collision or injury or damage.

This crime is punishable as a misdemeanor if there there is a conviction. 

Points on License

A conviction for Laying Drag in Georgia carries with it three points onto your Georgia's driver's license.
